For College Planning Service

This agreement is between Kurt Goedecke, an independent college consultant doing business as Wise Owl College Planning, and
in the capacity as parent or guardian, for services to be rendered by Consultant for the benefit of
, a student currently in the

*PARENTS: PLEASE CHECK OFF ALL SERVICES YOU WISH TO USE*
  • Support student throughout the college app process, but not do the work for them
  • Assist in keeping student on task and adhering to deadlines
  • Schedule and support college visits as necessarY
  • Discuss financial or other college parameters with student early in the process
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of all necessary financial aid materials
  • Allow student to take the lead in the college planning decision making process
  • Understand terms for consultant dismissal of student with no refund
  • Understand fee for late payment is $100 & for student late cancel/no show is $200
  • Understand what services the consultant will and will not provide
  • Register and pay for College Planner Pro software use ($97) at beginning of the process
  • Understand that consultant does not supply scholarship searches/services
  • Understand that consultant does all financial advising under a separate program
  • Understand how consultant work hours are calculated for the chosen package (pg 4)
  • Understand that most student meetings will be virtual
  • Insure the student has the software to attend meetings
THE CONSULTANT IN THIS CAPACITY WILL NOT:
  • Guarantee admittance to or financial aid awards from any college or university
  • Write student’s essay, fill out admission forms or scholarship app forms
  • Write letters of recommendation
  • Select college major for the student
  • Accept compensation from schools in exchange for placement
  • Respond to phone texts, calls or emails, except during office hours
  • Respond to excessive emails or texts from parent or student
  • Provide assistance with apps after Oct 30 senior year
  • Assist with scholarship searches
  • Assist with FAFSA/CSS Profile forms, financial aid forms except with a separate fee
  • Communicate more with the parent than the student
  • Submit student applications
  • Work during consultant’s vacation (includes emails, phone calls, texts)
THE STUDENT MUST:
  • Put 100% effort into the process
  • Do the very best academic work possible
  • Cooperate fully with the consultant and promptly provide requested information such as SAT/ACT test scores and grades
  • Take full responsibility for the accuracy and truthfulness of all submitted materials
  • Promptly advise consultant of disciplinary issues or other similar changes in status
  • Meet all deadlines required for testing, score submission and application completion
  • Request letters of recommendation and transcripts in a timely manner, following procedures established by student’s HS
  • Notify colleges of enrollment intentions as per all applicable guidelines
  • Take the initiative to call or email consultant when she/he needs appointment, has questions or has essays ready for review
  • Acknowledge receiving emails and respond to questions in a timely manner
  • Realize that the consultant is not on call 24/7 and does not work during his vacation
  • Keep appts and understand penalty fee for missed/late cancel of appt ($200 hr rate)
  • Understand terms for consultant dismissing student without a refund
  • Understand that most student meetings will be virtual.
The consultant may terminate contract without refund for any of the following reasons:
  • Student ceases to be enrolled in school
  • Student is expelled from school for any reason
  • Student fails to follow consultant’s guidance on repeated occasions or ignores deadlines
  • Student engages in disrespectful, harmful or offensive behavior during sessions
  • Parent does not pay consultant on time as stipulated in contract (separate form)
  • Student/parent provides false information on applications or during initial consult
  • Student cancels appointments 2 times or more without 24 hr notice/parent confirmation
  • Student repeatedly refuses to communicate via email to consultant
  • Parent and/or student consistently does not manage expectations in the process
